If you have a low income, the NHS Low Income Scheme could help you pay for certain health costs.
If you're aged 18 or over and in education, read our guide for students.
If you work and earn wages or a salary, or if you're self-employed, read our guide for earners.
If you have already paid for treatment, you can apply for a refund at the same time as you apply for the scheme.
You cannot apply if you or your partner (or both of you) have more than:
- £16,000 in savings, investments or property (not including the place where you live)
- £23,250 in savings, investments or property if you live permanently in a care home (£24,000 in Wales)
- have more than £6,000 in savings, investments or property (not including the place where you live)
- live in Northern Ireland
- are a student with a partner who lives with you
- Work out your weekly needs.

Who it may affect
Anyone claiming NHS help with health costs, Universal Credit free prescriptions, PPC holders, or people with an NHSBSA enquiry letter / PCN — check whether the page change applies to your situation.
